Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 20, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of www.perceivemd.ca (the “Website”), operated by PerceiveMD (“PerceiveMD”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a virtual healthcare clinic based in Victoria, British Columbia. By using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

Medical disclaimer

The information on the Website, including our journal articles and the Medical Cannabis Clinical Evidence page, is for general information and education only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for an assessment by a qualified healthcare professional. Never ignore professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read on the Website.

Medical cannabis is not appropriate for everyone. Whether it may be suitable for you can only be determined through an assessment with a physician.

No doctor–patient relationship

Using the Website, submitting a form or contacting us does not create a physician–patient or other healthcare provider–patient relationship. That relationship begins only when you are assessed by one of our clinicians.

Not for emergencies

If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not use the Website’s forms or email for urgent matters, because we may not see them right away. For non-urgent health advice in British Columbia, you can also call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1.

Appointments

Appointments are booked through a third-party online booking platform, which has its own terms of use and privacy policy. Appointment times depend on clinician availability and are not guaranteed until we confirm them.

Services insured by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) are provided at no cost to eligible patients. Booking an appointment does not guarantee any particular treatment or outcome. A physician will provide a medical document authorizing access to cannabis for medical purposes only if they determine it is clinically appropriate.

Forms and communications

When you use the Website’s forms or contact us, please give accurate information and do not include detailed health information. We use the information you send as described in our Privacy Policy.

Referrals from healthcare professionals

If you refer a patient to us, you confirm that you are a healthcare professional, that the patient has agreed to you sharing their contact details with us for this purpose, and that the information you provide is accurate. A referral does not commit the patient to an assessment or to treatment.

Resources for healthcare professionals

The Medical Cannabis Clinical Evidence page lists third-party research for healthcare professionals to review. The publications belong to their authors and publishers. Including a publication does not mean PerceiveMD endorses every finding in it, and healthcare professionals should rely on their own clinical judgment.

Links to other websites

The Website links to websites we do not control, such as our online booking platform, our Facebook page and research publications. We are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

Intellectual property

The Website’s content, including its text, graphics, logos and design, belongs to PerceiveMD or is used with permission. You may view and share pages from the Website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, republish or distribute its content for any other purpose without our written permission.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Website for any unlawful purpose;
  • submit false information, or someone else’s personal information without their consent;
  • interfere with the Website’s security or operation; or
  • use automated tools to copy the Website in a way that places an unreasonable load on it.

Disclaimer of warranties

We work to keep the Website accurate and up to date, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no promises that the Website or its content is complete, accurate or current, or that the Website will always be available or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PerceiveMD and its clinicians, staff and service providers are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Website or its content. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects the professional obligations our clinicians owe to the patients they care for.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about these Terms or the Website will be decided by the courts of British Columbia.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If you keep using the Website after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
