Getting Started

Our center offers a patient-focused, multidisciplinary team-based approach, which includes comprehensive assessments for medical cannabis and other innovative therapies, free of charge.

Your first step in getting started with PerceiveMD is to book a appointment date. All of our appointments are virtual.

We recommend booking an initial video consultation so you can meet the team face-to-face. Telephone consultations are available to patients without access to the internet or a video device.

After you book online, you will be prompted to complete the required pre-appointment questionnaires. This includes a review of your medical history, the reason for seeking our services, and a few short standardized questionnaires that will assist the doctor in their assessment.

Our Patient Care Coordinator will share these to your phone and/or email if you are booking over the phone. Those without access to a computer/internet can complete over the phone with a PerceiveMD team member.

We can help you with this! Included in your intake questionnaire package is a request for us to obtain a referral from a physician (usually your GP/Family Doctor). You may consider speaking with your doctor at your next visit with them. They can fax a completed referral form to 1-844-380-3980.

Please contact the clinic if you do not have a family doctor or haven’t seen a doctor for your primary concern.

Our Patient Care Coordinator will contact you by phone, text and/or email to confirm your appointment. Detailed instructions will be provided for video consultations.

Expect a phone call at your scheduled booking time if you selected a consultation by phone.

What to expect at your virtual appointment

We want you to feel safe and trust that you are receiving the highest quality care possible. With PerceiveMD you can expect to receive a comprehensive assessment from our team of healthcare professionals.

Your medical cannabis care team consists of a cannabis trained pharmacist, nurse, physician, and coach. Here’s what to expect when meeting with our team. You should expect your initial appointment to last 60 minutes, and 40-60 minutes for follow up appointments.

Pharmacist Assessment

Depending on your medication use, you may first have a scheduled consultation with one of our pharmacists.

During this 15-minute phone call, they will review your medication regimen for potential drug interactions, including those involving cannabis, herbs, and other supplements. This ensures we prioritize your safety and individualized care.

Nurse Assessment

The day of your doctor’s visit begins with a 15-20 minute consultation with one of our experienced nurses. They will review your intake questionnaire and ask questions to better understand your reasons for seeking medical cannabis therapy. This is an important part of our patient-centered approach and helps us develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. You will also have the opportunity to ask the nurse any general questions you may have during this time.

Physician Assessment

Following your consultation with the nurse, you will have a 15-20 minute consultation with one of our physicians. They will review your medical history, current health concerns, and any questions you may have. This assessment will help determine whether medical cannabis therapy is appropriate for you. If medical cannabis is considered a suitable treatment option, you will receive the necessary medical document to access medical cannabis products from a Canadian Licensed Producer.

Cannabis Coach Consultation

Once you have been approved for medical cannabis, you will meet with one of our cannabis coaches. This typically takes place immediately after your initial appointment with the physician, and as needed during follow-up appointments.

Our cannabis coaches are the product experts who can help you identify a Licensed Producer and select products that align with your needs and your physician’s recommendations. They will also provide guidance on product dosing and serve as an ongoing point of contact at the clinic to answer your questions and provide support throughout your medical cannabis journey.
